The pandemic should be winding down soon (don‘t get me started here) and it will be awesome to hit the beach or the lake, walk in the sun, take part in the fun, and be an active participant.

How to be a Cool Dad and and Awesome Grand Dad

Step #1 is to have the energy to go full speed and do fun things.

Keep it Simple

I’ve helped plenty of guys fight this battle without gimmick diets, useless activity or MLM products. Look, there are only a few levers you can pull:

  1. What to eat
  2. How much to eat (obvious)
  3. When to eat
  4. Your activity level
  5. and some lifestyle factors (sleep, stress, sun, etc.)

My fat loss program forces you to lose weight with your brain, not your mouth. Your brain is what drives your hunger.

You only eat for two reasons and it’s your brain that signals the release of ghrelin, the hunger hormone, to stimulate eating.

Reason 1.

You need energy, as in calories, to run your system. It’s no surprise your body needs constant energy to keep everything running.

Reason 2.

You need nutrition, as in vitamins, minerals and micronutrients. Balanced nutrition is essential to maintain health, repair organs and tissue, create hormones, feed your brain and on and on.

The Standard American Diet (SAD) provides a crap-ton of energy but few nutrients. You’re still hungry after eating a lot of calories because your body needs additional nutrition. A SAD eater is always overweight.

Conversely, trying to exist on salads, fruit and plant matter only, leaves you starving for energy. Yes, you’ll get decent nutrition (if you eat a variety of plants) but your body needs more calories to run on.

So what do you do?

You increase nutrient density. You eat foods that supply maximum nutrition on minimum calories. You get more bang for your buck.

You pull the “What You Eat” lever first.

If you get this right, the “How Much You Eat” lever actually takes care of itself.

The “When You Eat” lever, like intermittent fasting, is a tool that can help but you don’t need this in the beginning.

Start by pulling Lever #1.

If you’re open to changing your approach and will commit to 4 to 6 weeks of consistent effort (which really just means eating great tasting, highly nutritious food instead of nutrient void frankenfoods), you’ll be burning off body fat, hour by hour, even in your sleep!

You’ll look awesome, have loads more energy and be on your way to a shirtless summer.
